Armand Duplantis sets a new world record in the pole vault with 6.23 m

Swedish Olympic champion Armand Duplantis set a new world record in the pole vault by jumping 6.23 m on Sunday September 17 during the finals of the Athletics Diamond League in Eugene (Oregon, United States).

At 23, the double outdoor world champion broke the world record for the seventh time, which he had raised to 6.22 m in February in Clermont-Ferrand.

Earlier in the day, Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay, 10,000m world champion in Budapest in August, easily beat the 5,000m world record in Eugene. In 14 min 00 sec 21/100, Tsegay (26 years old) took almost 5 seconds off the record set by Kenyan Faith Kipyegon in Paris in June (14:05.20).
