Emmanuel Macron spoke this Thursday evening in the gardens of the Ministry of the Armed Forces. In front of dozens of soldiers who made the trip, the President of the Republic came to take stock of his commitments and bring some good news.

There will be no speech or interview this Friday for Emmanuel Macron. The President had however made an appointment on the day of the national holiday for a first assessment of the hundred days launched in April to turn the page on pensions and try to appease the country.

A proactive military programming law?

On the other hand, as he does every year, the Head of State gave a speech Thursday evening in the gardens of the Ministry of the Armed Forces at the Hôtel de Brienne. Far from the troubles of domestic politics, in this speech centered on international and defense issues, the Head of State confirmed good news for the military.

Starting with this promise from last year, which has now been acted upon. The defense budget will increase sharply after the final adoption of the military programming law for the period 2024-2030, and its envelope of just over 413 billion euros over seven years.

“We have drawn up a voluntarist military programming law. And what country can say that it has made such a long-term and consistent commitment,” he says.

India, this “friendly country”

In other good news for the military industry, India on Thursday gave its agreement in principle to the purchase of 26 Rafale fighter planes and three Scorpene submarines from France. And if the President did not mention the subject, he did not fail to welcome the visit to Paris of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and of the country he represents, this “giant of the History of the world who will have a decisive role for our future, strategic partner and friendly country”, underlined Emmanuel Macron.

Narendra Modi will be this Friday morning alongside Emmanuel Macron on the Champs Elysées to watch the troops and other vehicles descend the most beautiful avenue in the world, since he is the guest of honor at the military parade.
