Arms exports – Swiss companies exported fewer arms abroad – News

Last year, Swiss companies exported war material to 67 countries with federal approval worth a good 740 million Swiss francs. This is a decrease of around 18 percent compared to the record year 2020.

The export value in 2021 corresponds to a share of 0.2 percent of the total export of goods by the Swiss economy – compared to 0.3 percent in the previous year, as the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) announced on Friday.

The two main customer countries last year were Germany with deliveries worth 123 million francs, followed by Denmark with 96 million francs. The USA (CHF 90 million), Romania (CHF 87 million) and Botswana (CHF 64 million) followed in third to fifth place.
