Arno clings to the music. Suffering from pancreatic cancer, the singer resumed touring. Physically weakened, he is even working on a new album which should be released before next summer. But the artist has no illusions about what will happen next. “In the state where I am… the past no longer exists”he launched on the waves of France Inter this Wednesday, March 23. And to add: “I had a wonderful life, I traveled all over the world thanks to music, it gave me pleasure in life. I enjoyed life. I take this happiness with me. Thank you life! But now, in my state… Today is the most important”. At 72, Arno made macabre remarks during this interview with Augustin Trapenard.

“I’ve lost a lot of people around me lately. But it’s part of life: everyone knows that, and in the state I’m in, I accept”, assured Arno. But the singer is not one to complain. “I’m fine. The flowers are too expensive, I thought I’d wait to diehe joked with the Parisian. I live day by day. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow does not exist. I enjoy life.” In the columns of our colleagues, Arno explained that he had “spent five months in hospital” and having to use a “Baxter (an infusion) for [s]’feed” sometimes. Sick, he nevertheless found the time to record an album, titled almost logically To live. Since then, he has performed several dates in Belgium before being forced to cancel concerts.

Arno: his new project, despite the disease

“It’s the stage that gives me the most energy. When I know I’m going to perform, I feel galvanized. Music has always saved my life”, entrusted the interpreter of the Eyes of my mother to the Evening. But Arno is not worried. This Tuesday, March 22, moreover, he reappeared in Belgium since he received the honorary distinction of Officer of the Order of the Crowne, at the request of King Philippe of Belgium. Sick, Arno does not intend to rest. After a new album, he has another nice project. “I’m also writing a play. It’s a first, he assured the Parisian, very happy. It’s inspired by a song about a vegetarian couple, whose wife meets a butcher, specializing in sausages, Les Saucisses de Maurice.”
