Arnold Schwarzenegger sharply attacked the outgoing US President Donald Trump in an unusually emotional video.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (73) commented on the events of the last few days in the USA in an emotional video message on Instagram and made a verbal blow to the outgoing US President Donald Trump (74) and his supporters. The Republican ex-governor of California (2003 to 2011) also revealed a dark episode from his past that was previously unknown.

Schwarzenegger compared the storming of the US Capitol in Washington on January 6th with the Reichspogromnacht 1938, during which the Nazi regime organized and directed acts of violence against Jews in Germany and Austria. Not only were the windows and doors of the Capitol broken, the "mob" had also "destroyed the principles on which our country was founded" and which the people of the United States took for granted.

Painful memory

Then Schwarzenegger becomes personal. He grew up in post-war Austria. His father drank in order to forget the "guilt of his involvement in the most vicious regime in history" and beat his children when he was drunk. The same thing happened to her neighbors. His father and many others were traumatized by what they saw and did during World War II. At the beginning of National Socialism there were lies and intolerance. Schwarzenegger, who comes from Europe, "saw firsthand how things got out of hand".

Although he does not believe that this can happen in the US, one should still be aware of the consequences of selfishness and cynicism. Donald Trump is a "failed leader" and the "worst president of all time". The good thing, however, is that Trump will soon be as forgotten and irrelevant as his old tweets. A democracy would get better the more it survived the acid test, said Schwarzenegger at the end.
