Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent heart surgery three months before filming “Terminator 6”. In a video he shows his lightning recovery.

The “Terminator” once very vulnerable, in a surgical shirt on a walker: in a Arnold Schwarzenegger (76) allowed surprisingly intimate insights into the new YouTube video. In the clip, the Hollywood star reported on recovering from heart surgery gone wrong in 2018.

Five years ago, Schwarzenegger had to undergo the operation – his third, as he reports in the video. The procedure was planned as a minimally invasive operation, but something went wrong. Doctors accidentally stabbed his heart wall. Schwarzenegger had to be woken up, his doctor told him he needed open-heart surgery quickly.

After the life-saving operation, Schwarzenegger had to get used to the new situation. “You can’t turn back time,” the actor said in the video. He had to adapt to the “catastrophe” he had encountered. Finally, the shooting of “Terminator: Dark Fate” was imminent, the sixth part of the action saga.

Schwarzenegger: “I looked like an idiot”

“I have to get out of this hospital,” thought Schwarzenegger at the time. Step one: He had to start walking again as soon as possible. The doctors had advised him to train his lungs. The “Fubar” actor started with ten steps, later he ran to the nurses’ station. Then he called friends who cheered him on to walk down the aisle. “I looked like an idiot waddling down the aisle,” he recalled.

He showed pictures of it in the video. Dressed in a surgical gown, he leaned on an oxygen cylinder trolley that served as a walking frame. A nurse in a wheelchair walked behind him.

The efforts were successful. Three months before the start of the shooting of “Terminator 6” Schwarzenegger came out of the hospital. He immediately started training for the action scenes, which can also be seen in the video.

Arnold Schwarzenegger blamed his positive attitude for the quick recovery – but also the people who supported him: “We can’t do any of this alone.”
