Finally. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, who have been separated since July 2011, have just seen their divorce officially pronounced.
According to the American site TMZ, the papers were signed and validated by a judge in the Los Angeles court on the morning of Tuesday, December 28. Why did the procedure take so long? The tabloid explains that it is both a lack of motivation on both sides, and a particularly complex property settlement agreement, the couple not having signed a prenuptial agreement during the their union in 1986. The estate had been estimated at 400 million dollars (354.5 million euros) at the time of filing of the divorce papers. The sharing, which is confidential, would have been done fairly between the actor and the mother of his four children, reports TMZ.
“They worked with a private judge on all of this. Their family knows what is going on and that part of their life is over. They still respect each other, but now they will continue to have a life of their own and that’s about it. There is no drama, ”says a source at the American site Hollywood Life.
A story of adultery
The couple had separated in July 2011 after the revelation of the paternity of the actor concerning Joseph, the child of Mildred Baena, their former housekeeper. Who resembles his father to be mistaken, and tries to break into Hollywood in turn. In 2015, Arnold Schwarzenegger confessed to USA Today to have “failed” as a husband. But he was delighted to have managed to maintain a beautiful relationship with his ex-girlfriend and their children despite the circumstances.
“I’m very lucky to have the relationship I have with my children, with Maria and with everyone,” he confided. We have moved on. We have a very good relationship, all together. (…) I want the kids to know how much I love them, how awesome they are. I love being a father, ”he confided to himself.
