Arnold Schwarzenegger mourns the loss of his long-time friend and mentor Al Ruddy. The Godfather producer has died at the age of 94.

“Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger (76) mourns the loss of his long-time friend and mentor Albert S. Ruddy (1930-2024). According to several US media reports, the Oscar-winning producer and screenwriter died on Saturday, May 25, at the age of 94 in Los Angeles.

On Instagram, the Austrian-born actor remembers the influence of the “Godfather” producer on his own career and shares several photos with the Oscar winner.

“I met him more than 40 years ago, when he was already an icon and I was just starting my film career,” Schwarzenegger writes about his Instagram postwhich shows the “Terminator” star and Ruddy wearing cowboy hats in front of a Christmas tree.

For the US star, Ruddy was a “friend and mentor”. “He was always there to give me advice and guide me in the right direction,” recalls the 76-year-old. The film producer also had a major influence on Schwarzenegger’s career, says the actor: “What would I be without him? My life wouldn’t be what it is without amazing people like him who were there every step of the way.”

“I will miss him”

Schwarzenegger was inspired by the producer “by how he worked his ass off while always being there for his family.” Finally, the “Terminator” star expressed his gratitude once again: “I will miss him very much, but A will always be with me. I am so grateful that I was able to meet such a great man with such a big heart.”

The film producer known as Al Ruddy died from the effects of a “short illness”, as the media saysRuddy made his international breakthrough in 1972 with his Oscar-winning masterpiece “The Godfather”. The Canadian-American film producer had to wait 32 years for his next Oscar. It was not until 2004 that Ruddy was awarded the Golden Boy again, this time for his work “Million Dollar Baby”.
