In Vendée, a 44-year-old man was arrested at the wheel of his vehicle, at the beginning of December 2022, in possession of a driving license canceled in 2007. Heard by the court on February 1, this father of four declared that ‘he didn’t have time to iron it’.

Over the past 17 years, this Vendéen must have had a very busy schedule. As recounted The Journal du Pays yonnais, in December 2022, the police arrested, in La Roche-sur-Yon in Vendée, a driver who had a license canceled in 2007 due to a hit-and-run after an accident, which he himself had caused. Heard by the court on Thursday February 1, this 44-year-old man, also a father of four children, declared that he had “not had time to iron it”.

An “exceptional” trip to “buy Christmas gifts”

A defense questioned by the judge. “Between 2007 and 2024, you should still have time to iron it,” he told the driver, again according to the local media. The 44-year-old man had already been convicted of similar offenses before, in 2019 continues The Journal du Pays yonnais. And to justify his trip in December 2022, he affirmed that “it was exceptional, it was to go buy Christmas gifts”.

Finally, the Vendéen was sentenced to 180 day fines of five euros, or a total of 900 euros.
