Arrow Lake CPU Postponement Rumors: Intel Entirely Denies

Maybe it’s a communication operation, but Intel doesn’t want to hear about delaying its 15th generation of processors.

Only a few days ago, we mentioned a rumor put forward by the very serious DigiTimes. Rumor that Pat Gelsinger – CEO of Intel – was quick to refute most clearly in the world.

Intel would have lowered its orders?

According to our colleagues from DigiTimes, Intel would have actually revised some of its orders downwards in order to comply with market demands. While we buy fewer PCs, American society would not have quite the same needs as in 2022. Logic.

Fact, DigiTimes explained to us that Intel had already renegotiated an order placed with TSMC, the main foundry in the world. Still according to our colleague, the order concerns chips to be engraved in 3 nm for the third quarter of 2024.

Intel would therefore have decided to postpone part of this order to take delivery only during the fourth quarter of 2024, which could well imply a postponement of the generation of Intel Arrow Lake processors, the GPU part of which is planned for 3 nm of TSMC.

” No change according to Intel

Without particularly going into details, Pat Gelsinger spoke very shortly after the publication of the information of DigiTimes. Taking the assertion of our colleagues very seriously, the CEO of Intel has therefore decided to oppose a firm denial.

” Developments on the 3nm process are on track both at TSMC and on our own internal programs, including Intel 3 Granite Rapids and Sierra Forest […] I am somewhat surprised to see such rumors arise. You will notice in passing that similar rumors, and obviously false, had circulated a few months ago about the Intel 4 as well as about some of our projects with TSMC. »

Impossible, at our level, to disentangle the true from the false, but according to Pat Gelsinger, it is therefore not expected any particular delay on the roadmap that Intel has already had the opportunity to disseminate and which is considering a release of its 15th generation of processors – Arrow Lake – for the end of 2024.
