Art award from Italy – painting shows the way out of the corona crisis

The psychologist Andrea Gedl was named Artist of the Year for her work in Italy.

She works in the hospital in Waidhofen an der Thaya and completed a three-year art studio course as well as the master class with Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee. Since then Andrea Gedl has mainly exhibited her works in Spain, most recently in the Canary Islands, her adopted home. Especially in the pandemic, the 40-year-old paints a lot to cope with the corona crisis.

Gedl was awarded the art prize in Italy by the art curators Salvatore Russo and Francesco Saverio Russo with other artists for her picture “Where the pepper grows” and is therefore also in the art catalog “The best modern and contemporary artist 2021 ”. “Instead of a dramatic representation and consternation, I oppose the aggressor with aesthetic elements. An expression that is mostly reflected in my works, ”says Andrea Gedl, who simply sends the coronavirus with her picture to where the pepper grows
