“Art on Snow” – Snow art decorates Gasteinertal when the temperatures are above zero

At “Art on Snow” in the Gastein Valley, real artists are at work on the weekend: they spend days conjuring up elaborate showpieces out of ice and snow.

A meter-high stiletto shoe or a gate that points to this year’s winter festival: For a week, the artists are transforming the ski metropolis into an outdoor museum with sculptures in the valley and on the mountain. For the twelfth time, the mountains will be the scene of great art. In Dorfgastein, Bad Gastein, Sportgastein and also in Angertal, the snow and ice works of art can be admired at work until next Friday. Whether it’s Jesus on the cross in a snow chapel, a gate that shows the way to Gastein or a high-heeled shoe that impresses with a spectacular view at the Stubnerkogelbahn. The works of art can be seen in the valley, from the ski slopes or at the mountain station. However, they are fleeting, especially when the temperatures in the valley persist as they will in the coming days.
