Arthur launches “Visual Suspect”: “It’s a kind of parody of ‘Who’s who'”

INTERVIEW

“Do not judge on appearance !” This slogan is known on television as that of reality TV Secret Story. It is now also that of another TF1 program: Visual Suspect. This new show, launched on Friday and hosted by Arthur, brings together four personalities. They will have the role of investigator and investigator and will have to guess details about the identity of anonymous people. But without questioning them, simply by observing them.

Concretely: several anonymous people are lined up in front of the personalities, who have to guess who is a stripper and who is an accountant. Or determine, from photos of dogs, which animal belongs to which anonymous present on the set. To take on the role of investigator, Arthur called on friends, personalities with whom he is used to doing shows: Ahmed Sylla, Booder, Camille Lou and Shy’m. All have one thing in common, according to him: they are the worst losers he knows.

Go from 5 to 120 minutes of play

For Arthur, the key word of Visual Suspect is humor. “It’s kind of a parody of guessing show formats [de devinette, ndlr]as Mask Singerwhere at the time Who is who ?. We took the best of the guessings, and we parodied it”, explains Arthur at the microphone of TF1. “I come back to pure entertainment, and to the fundamentals, with around me 80 anonymous people. It reminds me of when I presented Take it or leave it. It’s not mean, it’s not controversial, we laugh and it’s benevolent. That’s what I like the most.”

Visual Suspect is not quite a creation; it is an adaptation of a sequence originally present in the American late night show by British animator James Corden. The sequence lasts 5 minutes in the United States, against 120 in France. It was therefore necessary to create a real game mechanics. Two shows are scheduled. If it’s a success, there will be more next year.

Several projects between Arthur and TF1

“I would dream of having the same audience as the temperature it will be this weekend”, jokes Arthur at our microphone. “Which is not possible, since in general when it is very hot there are very few people, and especially very few young people, in front of the television. But what interests us is already to see if the show is popular, if the mechanics work. We will test it on several numbers.” the first issue of Visual Suspect airs Friday evening at 9:10 p.m. on TF1.

Arthur also has other projects with TF1: he will take over the show The Grand Contest. He succeeds Alessandra Sublet, who wishes to devote herself to her new career as an actress. She had herself succeeded Laurence Boccolini and Carole Rousseau. The host will be the first man to present the show, which has been around for 20 years.
