The American company foresees a bright future for its multimodal language model, and now it is a matter of giving it concrete missions to attract users. This is why it is now present in a new tool which should interest more than one: NotebookLM.
A powerful and flexible service
The application is not really new, since Google presented it to us for the first time last May, when it was still called “ Project Tailwind “. It is a note-taking tool, the graphical appearance of which is similar to that of Google Keep, but with a few additional features. He can be provided with several text documents in the form of notepads or files from Google Docs, which he can then summarize or bring together into key points. As of last week, NotebookLM can also process PDFs up to 100 MB in size, which is far from uninteresting.

A tool that should interest more than one
NotebookLM also allows itself to make suggestions to users based on their latest actions and the documents they have provided. So, in addition to suggesting questions to ask, it can “ offer tools to polish or refine your prose, or suggest related ideas from your sources, based on what you have just written ”, as Google explains.
It’s a safe bet that communication agencies, creatives and other students will quickly get used to using it because, beyond the promises made by Google, the tool is quite easy to use. In addition, the company is aware of the shortcomings of its artificial intelligence which, again like ChatGPT, is capable of giving erroneous answers. To allow users to check the results, the tool automatically provides access to the paragraphs it used to generate its answers.
So, can we get our hands on NotebookLM? Yes, if you live in the United States. For the moment, the application is only being tested on a large scale in Uncle Sam’s country, like Bard in its infancy.
