Artistic director Nicolas Bouvier leaves 343 Industries


Author of countless illustrations for the Halo franchise since Halo 4, first as lead concept artist, Nicolas Bouvier succeeded Kenneth Scott as art director in January 2014 on Halo 5: Guardians, a position he will then retain on Halo Infinite. Born in France and passed by the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, this fan of John Berkey and Vangelis already had substantial experience in video games before Halo. Since 1996, his work as a concept artist has included Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare (2001), Cold Fear (2005), Prince of Persia: Warrior’s Soul (2004), Assassin’s Creed (2007) and Rage (2011). ). Nicolas Bouvier has not yet revealed his next destination, but has confirmed that the rest of his career will be elsewhere than at Microsoft.

Far from being isolated, the departure of Nicolas Bouvier adds to a growing list of departures within the team in charge of Microsoft’s flagship franchise. This includes creative director Tim Longo, producer Mary Olson, studio head Chris Lee, lead multiplayer designer Andrew Witts and design director Jerry Hook, who incidentally announced his new studio yesterday with of a handful of other 343 Industries alumni.
