A way according to the American giant to prevent the spread of malware, macros being responsible for 25% of ransomware infections (according to Microsoft).
Macros blocked by default on Office
In a blog post, Microsoft announces a strengthening of macro blocking of files from the Internet. Thus, the software is no longer content to display a warning banner, but the blocking is manifested by a message displayed in red, with a link to a page which explains the danger that macros can constitute.
” For the protection of our customers, we must make it more difficult to enable macros in files obtained from the Internet “explains Microsoft. For the user, it is of course still possible to activate the newly downloaded macros despite everything, but the operation requires a few clicks.
Indeed, you will have to close your document, then right-click on it to check the “Unblock” box in the “Properties” section. An update which concerns Windows computers also subscribed to the Office 365 offer. Later, this additional security will also be enabled on earlier versions of Office.
