The memorial against National Socialism on Schwarzgrabenweg in the Leopoldskron district of Salzburg has again been badly damaged. A complaint was filed.
The police confirmed a report by ORF Salzburg on Saturday. On Thursday night, previously unknown persons tore the metal sculpture from the stone base. According to a police spokeswoman, the investigations are going in all directions. The “Never Forget” memorial had already been demolished in March 2020. In 2010, the Radiofabrik erected the memorial by the Salzburg sculptor Zoltan Pap as part of an EU project to refurbish a Nazi detention camp for Roma and Sinti in Salzburg-Maxglan. The 17 stumbling blocks around the monument were not damaged, the police said.
