As with the police – call for fair pay in nursing training

SALK works councilor Sabine Gabath is finally calling for measures to be taken in the care dilemma. The time to talk must be over, nurses must be involved in decisions and young people in training must be paid more – as with police students.

Both Sabine Gabath and SPÖ social spokeswoman Barbara Thöny demand a livelihood security during the training for the nursing staff. “If police officers get paid during their training, the nursing staff is entitled to it, too,” the two said in unison. In this way, more new employees should be attracted to care. Currently, nursing assistants only receive 100 euros per month despite numerous practical hours. Furthermore, they call for a care officer at the federal level.
