ask your questions to the editorial staff

According to a survey carried out by YouGov for MoneyVox, more than one in three French people have been discovered over the past year. Although it is sometimes authorized, it can be very expensive when it is exceeded, and even have dramatic consequences. Ask the editorial team your questions about bank overdraft.

36% of French people have been discovered at least once in the last twelve months. This is the lesson of a survey carried out by YouGov for MoneyVox, as part of our file on bank overdraft.

If 86% of people who have been in the red have an authorized overdraft, 35% have already exceeded it. And 11% of people discovered over the past year do not have one. However, the financial consequences can be very serious when payment defaults begin to accumulate, even leading, in the most extreme cases, to over-indebtedness.

Should we draw a line under overdrafts?

A question therefore arises: Should the bank overdraft system as it exists in France continue, or on the contrary be reviewed and replaced? Is it in the interest of users to allow them to spend more money than they have, while only giving them 30 days to restore the situation? Is it normal to charge so much for fees related to payment incidents?, at the risk of further accentuating the financial difficulties of customers? Wouldn’t there be other solutions, more virtuous and less stigmatizing? MoneyVox launches the debate.

You are wondering if the fees charged by your bank are legal. You don’t understand what you’re being charged when your account goes into the red. On the contrary, you believe that using the overdraft allows you to make ends meet.
