Many of you may never have heard of Askoll. However, if you have traveled the streets of Paris, you have surely come across its blue and white electric scooters, providing the Cooltra self-service. It is precisely this model, available in equivalent 50 cm3 (eS2) and 125 cm3 (eS3), which evolves for the year 2023. It was presented in Paris at the Salon Autonomy this week, alongside the Scoo3 scooter.

A much better equipped Askoll XKP

Askoll eS is therefore entering a new phase. Externally, it is difficult to notice the differences at first glance, but they are nevertheless substantial. Even to the point of changing the name, the electric scooter becoming Askoll XKP, for escape Or “escape”.

The Italian two-wheeler now operates with a round headlight, more enveloping but shortened front fenders, new taillights on the truncated extension. Significant improvement, the 16-inch wheels adopt new wider tires, especially at the rear (110/70 vs 90/80), as well as braking with two 220 mm front and 160 mm rear discs. The predecessor relied on a 190mm front disc and rear drum.

On the handlebars, there is a new modern 5.5-inch diagonal screen, displaying essential information: speed, remaining range, battery gauge, mileage, time, temperature, current mode and various indicators. Connected, the Askoll XKP sends its GPS position via the application and records driving data. Note that the featherweight increases by 4 kg (excluding battery), or 71 kg against 67 kg previously. It therefore remains lighter than the NGS2 tested recently.

Double versions for double batteries

Under the new 2023 dress, the electric scooter retains its electric part, unchanged. The L1 version for AM license, evolution of the eS2, has a 2.2 kW motor and 158 Nm of torque to reach a maximum of 45 km/h. The L3 version can reach 66 km/h via 2.7 kW of power and 130 Nm of torque.

New, the two Askoll XKPs have two basic removable batteries totaling 2.8 kWh (and no longer just one basic on the L1), enough to travel 87 and 93 km per charge (compared to 81 and 96 km previously). Each battery, weighing 8 kg, requires approximately 6 hours of full charge depending on the brand.

The Askoll XKP is coming very quickly, since the brand announces availability for this spring 2023, in Italy. In France, CEO Gian Franco Nanni announces a release later this year. No price or presence on the official website yet.

However, the electric scooter should turn around 4,500 euros for the L1 version and 5,000 eurs in L3. An estimated price based on the current versions eS2 (4,390 euros with 2 batteries) and eS3 (4,890 euros). Finally, these electric scooters remain Italian-made, like the previous models.
