Assassination of a rally driver in 2018: a DGSI police officer indicted


The internal intelligence officer is incriminated for “delictual and criminal association of criminals”.

A police officer from the DGSI was indicted on December 9 in Paris, suspected of having provided information to a criminal pharmacy that led to the assassination at the end of 2018 of a rally driver, Laurent Pasquali, learned on Monday January 23 the AFP from a source familiar with the matter, confirming RTL.

This internal intelligence officer since 2011, former agent of the DGSE (external intelligence), was indicted for “conspiracy» delictual and criminal.

Two counts

In the first case, this 49-year-old brigadier is suspected of having carried out surveillance and photographs in 2014, against the sum of 1000 euros, of the UMP mayor of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne), Sylvain Berrios, who was ultimately the subject of an assassination plan.

In the second, he is implicated, according to two sources close to the case, for having consulted police files and made a few trips in order to provide the criminal unit with the private address of Laurent Pasquali, without knowing that this would lead to a assassination.

He would have perceived for this “between 200 and 300 eurothat he allegedly shared with another police officer, according to one of these sources. The policeman was placed under judicial supervision, with a ban on exercising, according to a source familiar with the matter. Asked, his lawyer Me Julien Fresnault did not wish to comment to AFP.

The assassination of this rally driver is at this stage the main crime attributed to this cell, also suspected of criminal projects targeting a CGT trade unionist in Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain), a Congolese opponent of President Sassou Nguesso, Ferdinand Mbaou, etc.

Laurent Pasquali’s mother reported his disappearance on December 2, 2018. On September 1, 2019, his bones were discovered by a walker in a wood in Haute-Loire.

A couple in the automotive industry, creditor of Laurent Pasquali, is suspected of having commissioned the cell about him, but denied having asked for his assassination. In a report, the Criminal Brigade considers that the police officer was paid by one of the protagonists of the file “for several private inquiries“.
