The day after the requisitions of the Advocate General, who wanted very heavy sentences for the four defendants, the Val-de-Marne Assize Court therefore delivered its verdict in the context of the assassination of the former champion of Thai boxing, Amadou Ba. He had been killed in Créteil in 2018, hit by six bullets and beaten with a baseball bat during a punitive expedition led in particular by his wife’s three brothers. He died aged 39 from his injuries in hospital.
The youngest of the victim’s ex-brothers-in-law, Yazid K. – who admitted having fired – remained head down and without apparent reaction at the time of the verdict. Considered the main defendant in this sordid affair, he was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment. At his side in the box, his brother Nacer K. – who had admitted having hit him with a baseball bat – was sentenced to 17 years for murder also, that is to say an intentional homicide with premeditation. The other brother-in-law Djamel K.was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison while one of their friends, Karim A.saw himself impose a 12-year sentence for having committed intentional violence resulting in death without intention to give it.
During his requisitions Thursday, February 24, the Advocate General had judged “gigantic“the responsibility of Amadou Ba’s wife, Saïda K., in the assassination of the father of her children; one of her sons died, aged 4, victim of a car accident in January 2021. Her “hatred” towards her husband would have pushed her brothers to a “private revenge“. Earlier in the day, the four men, contrite and moved, had “apologize to the family” of the sportsman, underlines the AFP.
As a reminder, Amadou Ba and his wife were married in 2006. They then founded a family and bought a house, which would become one of the two points of tension in their separation, after 9 years of marriage.
