Assassin’s Creed: A next episode in a highly anticipated universe? Fans rejoice!

It is well known, the Assassin’s Creed license knows how to make its players travel, both geographically and chronologically. Thus, it is possible to explore the Caribbean from the time of the pirates (Black Flag), the pyramids of Egypt during their construction (Origins), or the great north of Europe at the time of the Vikings (Valhalla), and many more!

But while the next installment of the Ubisoft license, Assassin’s Creed Rift, would take place in Iraq, in Baghdad, it is quite possible that the developers have started working on the games after, and in particular on the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Infinity. A trip to Japan, anyone?

Assassin’s Creed in Japan?

This is indeed what was implied Jeff Grubb, a well-known and trusted industry insider, during one of his YouTube podcasts. The project, according to him, would not be directly linked to Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which would return to him on the already existing characters of the license.

According to him, the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be an evolving service game that allows players to navigate through various eras and countries. This opus would derive totally from the RPGs of the license that we know, and would be much larger. Yves Guillemotcurrent CEO of Ubisoft, said of the production: “It will be a very innovative game while having what players already have in all Assassin’s Creed games”.

But then, what is Japan doing in all this? Still according to Jeff Grubb, the Japanese opus would be an RPG in its own right, plunging players into feudal times. The information, although it comes from a reliable insider, is to be taken with a grain of salt and it is not yet known whether this feudal Japanese era will be presented in Infinity or will indeed be the subject of a game.

Waiting…

Fans of the license will have plenty to worry about in the coming years because Ubisoft has many projects for Assassin’s Creed. As Assassin’s Creed Rift slowly (but surely) comes to an end, the community storylines around Infinity continue.

One thing is certain, Ubisoft has made an appointment with its players next September. Apparently, a big licensing announcement will be made there. So here is a conference not to be missed which will reveal more about the brand’s ambitions regarding Assassin’s Creed!
