Assassin’s Creed Mirage reveals the extent of its world map in a video dedicated to the recreation of Baghdad

The output ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage is closer than ever sinceUbisoft announced this week that the game had just passed gold, in addition to changing the release date. Upstream of the gamescom Opening Night Liveit shows itself already with the third and last video of the series serving as a dev diary. As a reminder, the first was dedicated to the return to the sources of the license with this episode, presenting the pillars of its gameplaywhile the second was interested in basimwith some concept art and an overview of some key menus. This time, the team talks to us about how the Baghdad of the time has been recreated virtually.

We find once again the narrative director Sarah Beaulieu, the artistic director Jean-Luc Sala and the creative director Stéphane Boudon, but also Dr Raphaël Weyland and the Senior concept artist Edouard Noisette.

At the time of the game, in the 9th century CE, Baghdad was “the center of the world”, one of the richest, largest and most advanced cities in itself, part of the vast Abbasid Caliphate. It is also noted that major scientific discoveries took place during this time. In short, the perfect place and time for a game Assassin’s Creed. The difficulty for the developers, however, was to recreate the city from almost nothing while being respectful of history. They therefore used various sources describing the city and the remains of buildings dating from the same period, in addition to calling on specialists such as Dr. Glaire D. Anderson.

So these are four districts, each with their own aesthetic that we can explore (Harbiyah, Abassiyah, Karkh and the round city), but also the surrounding nature as evidenced by The map of the world in-game unveiled for the very first time, on which we can zoom in to display a 3D view, and Alamut. Note that there is mention of equipment chests, artifacts related to a certain Devis, mysterious fragments and historical sites. However, not all areas will be safe for basimsince a recommended rank is indicated.

To fully immerse ourselves in the atmosphere, each hour of the day will have its own atmosphere thanks in particular to the lighting and the day-night cycle. Several concept art of characters that we will meet have also been revealed. A series of quests called Tales of Baghdad will deal with cultural subjects of the time to immerse ourselves ever more in the local culture and we were reminded of the implementation of theHistory of Baghdad and Codexwhich we have already told you about.
