Faced with the proliferation of video game adaptations which are becoming more and more numerous, Ubisoft naturally showed great interest in this market and hadn’t waited for it to become fashionable to get involved. This notably resulted in a rather resounding failure with the film Assassin’s Creed, but not enough to discourage the publisher who believes in the potential of the license on other media. Ubisoft has therefore partnered with netflix to produce a live-action series, but this one is already experiencing some turbulence before even showing the slightest image.
The series no longer has a showrunner
Don’t wait for the series Assassin’s Creed for this year, it is a certainty. We thought that things were progressing well on the side of this project thanks to the hiring of Jeb Stuart (Vikings: Valhalla) as showrunner, but the interested party told Collider that he was finally no longer part of the team in charge of the series.
He explains that this is caused by creative differences, with the production of the series moving from the Los Angeles hub to the London hub, and as a result, the London team needed to create their own project rather than to inherit that of another.
While he doesn’t hold any grudges by giving his full support to the teams and saying that the series should be amazing, it seems to show that the project will ultimately take a little longer than expected. No replacement has yet been named.
