Assassin’s Creed Nexus: tantalizing details and a first trailer with Ezio, Connor and Kassandra for the VR episode

Obviously the big chunk of theUbisoft Forward coast Assassin’s Creedit was Mirage with its new narrative trailer and its 7 minutes of gameplay. However, two other productions were shown, starting with Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, the first virtual reality game in this universe. Its name and logo had been formalized during the Meta Quest Showcase, giving us an appointment this Monday evening to find out more. And indeed, we were treated to some interesting details, even if the leaks of last year have somewhat mitigated the discovery. To begin with, know thatit is jointly developed by Red Storm, Ubisoft Dusseldorf, mumbai, reflections, pune, Montreal, Belgrade And Berlin.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR will therefore officially make us embody three protagonists already known in first person view, namely Cassandra during ancient Greece, Ezio Auditore in Italy during the Renaissance And Connor Kenway at the time of the American Revolution. Its creative director David Votypka explained to us that these never-before-seen historical segments will form a complete campaign.

The bond between the three immediately put a smile on our faces, namely the present on the side ofabstergo. Yes, it’s been a long time. The plot will revolve arounda project of Templars baptized Eye of the Nexus, which is blood-curdling. Indeed, their goal is to use the memory of a user of theAnimus against him by studying his past via his genetic memories in order to make him behave in the desired way, why not in the context of an election for example or to adhere to a point of view like theirs… Except that the missing piece to their control tool is an ancient artifact Isu that has been broken and lost throughout history. This is where our three killers come into play (yes, Cassandra is considered to be one). As a player, we will infiltrate abstergo in order to relive the memories of these characters in order to sabotage the operation from within.

On the side ofEziowe are promised a trying conflict, the theft of treasures, a story of revenge and reunion with old friends (Leonardo ?). Cassandra will it be caught in an intense conflict in 400 BCE when The Thirty tyrannically govern Athens. Finally, Connor will be immersed in a world of espionage, intrigue and lies as he witnesses what it feels like to be betrayed. Their adventures will take place through open maps in which we can perform parkour and climb where we want. Goals will be non-linear within these sandboxes tactics, leaving us in control of how we accomplish them, with infiltration without being seen, access through the roofs or a more brutal approach using our skills in combat.

To help us, various tools and weapons will be at our disposal, including the secret blade, a sword or a tomahawk. We are promised a combat system mimicking a natural style. A bow or crossbow if not, will allow you to eliminate the targets from a distance, to be equipped by going to get it behind your shoulder. Throwing knives and smoke bombss will be at the level of our chest and belt. And of course, we will be able to assassinate from the heights, perform a leap of faith, hide in the crowd, etc. On the other hand, the trailer does not present a real gameplaybut animations pre-rendered in CGI. The visuals on the following page are used to give us an overview of the rendering in-gamebut let’s remain cautious in front of these beautiful promises while waiting to have a real glimpse in motion.

And if you are sensitive to motion sickness (kinetosis), features have been integrated to ensure a good gaming experienceincluding locomotion by teleportation with versions for parkour and climbing, a vignetting to block peripheral vision or a system that will help players with acrophobia thanks to static points serving as a reference.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is expected on Meta Quest 2 (sold from €349.99 per Fnac) at the end of 2023 and will also be playable via Quest 3 And Quest Pro.
