Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Forgotten Saga mode approaching with update 1.6.0, its detailed changelog

While waiting to discover the future of the license in September, it is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla who is once again talking about him since he will be entitled to a wave of novelties this week. Not later than this Tuesday, August 2, around 2:00 p.m., we will therefore be able to download the 1.6.0 update, which will therefore introduce the game mode entitled forgotten sagawhich we learned about in June and whose plot will be located chronologically following the events of the paid expansion Dawn of Ragnarok (read our impressions). If tapping dragon to Niflheim with Odin interests you, so there will be no need to pay a penny more to try. In addition to that, the Sigrblot party will return on Thursday, until August 25.

This new mode has been fully detailed by Ubisoft on the game’s official website:

OVERVIEW

Baldr, Norse god of light and purity, has disappeared in Niflheim. Odin, mad with grief, refuses to admit that his son is in the misty world of the dead. Defying fate, the Allfather delves into the depths of Niflheim to traverse these hostile lands, but Niflheim is hardly welcoming to the living.

This free-to-play mode, inspired by the rogue-lite genre, offers players a new challenge populated by relentless enemies, where the slightest choice matters.

DIE AND TRY AGAIN

Like other rogue-lite experiences, Forgotten Saga mode pushes players to their limits against fearsome enemies in a hostile world. Players progress as they strive to conquer the depths of Niflheim, but death is an inevitable part of the adventure and will strike you frequently. With each death, you will return to the starting point with the opportunity to upgrade Odin and gain strength for the next attempt, while having increased your knowledge of ways to triumph over the challenges ahead.

UNIVERSE

The lands of Niflheim are as desolate as they are implacable. You will pass through various regions such as the icy sector of Kaldstad and the poison swamps of Nidheim before reaching Hel Castle. Your progress through these lands will not be easy, as Hel’s minions patrol the scene, ready to attack any intruder on sight. Before reaching the next area, you will need to defeat a Goddess Champion. Each sector has its specific opponent that we only encounter in the Forgotten Saga expansion.

Your exploration of the universe will be rewarded with perks, gear, and abilities to take on groups of enemies, as well as secret locations reserved for keen-sighted players. As he explores, Odin will encounter NPCs offering optional quests that cannot all be completed in a single stay.

EQUIPMENT

Equipment has been completely redesigned for the Forgotten Saga mode. Upon entering Niflheim, Odin will be deprived of the equipment he brought and will have to face the threats of Hel’s domain with a completely randomized loadout.

As you progress, stay after stay, your choices will exert their influence. You can increase your chances of survival by defeating enemies, obtaining new weapons, outfits, and runes through events, or spending hard-earned coins from vendors. While Odin can use multiple runes to increase his power, he can only be equipped with one weapon at a time. Each decision will therefore have to be carefully considered, because if the forces of Hel prevail over you, you will be deprived of your powerful equipment and returned to the starting point.

Death will inevitably come, but there is no need to fear it. Each time Odin is kicked out of Niflheim, you’ll receive Ability Points to progress through a whole new skill tree, increasing your strength, and increasing the chance of receiving powerful armaments and runes.

REWARDS

During each stay in Niflheim, you will receive money to improve Odin and to buy advantages and abilities to strengthen it. New raven tattoos, mounts and skins are available for purchase in Ravensthorpe using the money earned during your playtime. Those who manage to overcome the ultimate challenge by defeating the forces of Hel and even the Goddess herself will receive a unique set of gear that Eivor can use on his adventures through the different regions of England.

JOIN THE NIFLHEIM

Access to the Forgotten Saga mode is via a new location, Everold’s Cabin in Ravensthorpe, which can be built after your first trip to Asgard. When it has been built, you can join the Niflheim at any time, as there are no power level requirements.

So grab your ax and get ready to defy death!

the changelog rather short of this voluminous patch has also been shared, to be found on the next page. Whether Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still not in your toy library, it is still sold on Amazon.
