“Asterix and the Griffin” will be the 39th edition of the popular comic series. The new band should be on the shelves on October 21st.
All fans of Asterix and Obelix should mark October 21, 2021 in red and bold in their calendar: Then the new edition “Asterix and the Greif” will appear, the 39th album in the successful comic series. It will be the fifth collaboration between the authors Jean-Yves Ferri (61) and Didier Conrad (61), who continue the work of the creators René Goscinny (1926-1977) and Albert Uderzo (1927-2020).
“We put a mythological beast at the center of the adventure,” says Ferri about “Asterix and the griffin”. It is said to be a “thoroughly enigmatic creature”: “Half eagle, half lion and with the ears of a horse.” With around 385 million albums and translations in 111 languages and dialects sold, the Asterix and Obelix series is one of the most successful series ever.
Albert Uderzo died almost exactly a year ago to the day, on March 24, 2020. He trusted that the characters he created with Goscinny would be continued with respect by Ferri and Conrad. With “Asterix und der Greif” he brought his influence and his ingenious humor into an Asterix adventure for the very last time, according to a statement by the Egmont Ehapa Media publishing house.
