2024 - Asterix: where is Alain Chabat's series project for Netflix?

Director of the cult film Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, Alain Chabat is currently preparing the adaptation of another volume of the adventures of the two comic book characters for Netflix. It will be an animated series dedicated to the Battle of the Chiefs.

Revealed to the general public in the 80s within the collective of comedians called Idiots, Alain Chabat has become over the years one of the headliners of French cinema. Besides his acting skills, he also made a name for himself as a director. Among his most notable films, we can notably cite the cult comedy Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, which had garnered more than 14 million admissions during its theatrical run. Currently showing the feature film entitled Incredible but truedirected by Quentin Dupieux, Alain Chabat is working on his next project, which will once again be linked to the universe of Asterix and Obelix.

In effect, the former member of Dummies is in the process of producing an animated series to be broadcast on Netflix. The latter will be devoted to another album of the adventures of the two characters imagined by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo: The Battle of the Chiefs. In this volume, the Druid Panoramix loses his head after having received a menhir on the skull, which was accidentally sent by Obelix. This shock makes him forget the recipe for the magic potion. A drama that occurs right when Abraracourcix, the chief of the irreducible Gauls, is challenged by the chief of another village: Aplusbégalix. “I finished writing my series Asterix for Netflix, but we’re just starting production now. It’s the first time we’ve worked on something this big, because it’s still 5 times 30 minutes. We work with absolutely legendary people in animation“, confided Alain Chabat to Raw.
