(CercleFinance.com) – AstraZeneca says its Covid-19 vaccine, Vaxzevria, has been approved in the European Union (EU) by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as a third dose booster in adult.
Healthcare professionals can now use the product as a third dose booster in patients who have already received a primary vaccination regimen of Vaxzevria or an EU-approved mRNA Covid-19 vaccine.
This authorization is based on evidence demonstrating an increased immune response after a third booster dose with Vaxzevria following a primary vaccination schedule of Vaxzevria or an mRNA vaccine.
‘Vaxzevria is estimated to have helped prevent 50 million cases of Covid-19, five million hospitalizations and saved over a million lives worldwide, based on model results assessing Covid-19 around the world whole”, specifies the laboratory.
