Asus launches the Zenfone 11 Ultra, its most efficient smartphone for less than 1000 euros

Asus has just started the year by presenting a new high-end smartphone, and not just any smartphone, since it is its first “Ultra” model. The Zenfone 11 Ultra promises to be much more ambitious than its predecessor.

While we were used to compact formats with Asus, in particular its Zenfone 10 and its small 5.9-inch screen, the Taiwanese giant has finally announced a completely different smartphone, the Zenfone 11 Ultra. As its name suggests, the latter directly competes with large high-end smartphones from other manufacturers, using the best technologies from Asus.

If the design of the device reminds you of anything, it’s because it’s almost identical to Asus’ recent ROG Phone 8 Pro. He also shares with him a large part of his technical sheet, which we will detail for you.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra is a ROG Phone 8 Pro without the gaming emphasis

Unsurprisingly, the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3which will allow it to be just as powerful as devices such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra or even the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

At the front, we find a 6.78 inch screenmuch larger than that of the Zenfone 10. It is an OLED E6 LTPO panel offering a maximum brightness of 2500 nits, and above all a 144Hz refresh rate for an extremely smooth experience. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, another improvement over its predecessor, and even offers thinner bezels.

A larger screen generally means a larger battery capacity. The smartphone can this time count on no less than 5500mAhcompared to 4300 mAh on the Zenfone 10, and the battery is compatible with the 65W wired and 15W wireless fast charging.

On the photo side, there are 3 cameras, one more than the previous generation. This is a 50 MP main sensor IMX890a captor ultra 13 MP wide-anglebut above all a 32 MP telephoto lens offering 3X optical zoom. The smartphone therefore becomes much more versatile in photography, which could attract new users.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra focuses everything on AI

With its Zenfone 11 Ultra, Asus also unveils some artificial intelligence features. Among them, we can notably cite AI Call Translator, which allows users to make calls that will be translated instantly. All you have to do is speak French, and your speech will be automatically translated into Chinese, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Japanese.

The smartphone can also count on AI Wallpaper, which will let you create personalized wallpapers using the device’s artificial intelligence. The Zenfone 11 Ultra also lets you use AI Transcript, which provides instant transcription when using the convenient Recorder app. All languages listed above are also supported.

Note that users will also be able to search for information even more simply on their smartphone, whether in photos or applications. It works without the help of the Internet, and uses natural language. As with tools such as ChatGPT, all you have to do is say what you want to look for so that the smartphone opens the right application or the right photo in your gallery.

Finally, the Zenfone 11 Ultra will let you use Phone Link and GlideX, tools that look a lot like DeX from Samsung. The latter will allow you to duplicate your screen on a computer screen, thus letting you access your applications, your files or even your photos from your computer.

Price and availability

Given the many improvements and its larger format, the Zenfone 11 Ultra is unsurprisingly more expensive than its predecessor, but less than we might have feared. In fact, the smartphone is marketed from 999.99 euros in its version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while you will have to pay 1099.99 euros for the configuration with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The least expensive version is available in four colors: Eternal Black, Skyline Blue, Misty Gray and Desert Sand. The most expensive one must be satisfied with black and blue.

The smartphone is not immediately available for sale, its release being scheduled for April 14, but until then, you can pre-order the device and benefit from a reduction of 100 euros on both versions of the Zenfone 11 Ultra at all participating retailers.
