Asus ROG Flow X16: a 16-inch gaming hybrid with multiple possibilities

The Asus ROG Flow X16 is a new chassis that uses the principle of the ROG Flow X13, but with a 16-inch panel. As a reminder, the Asus ROG Flow X models are convertible with a 360° rotating screen to which it is possible to connect an external GPU (Asus XG Mobile) thanks to a specific port.

The ROG Flow X16 is therefore a portable PC gaming 16 inches both thin and light since it weighs 2 kg for less than 2 cm thick. It offers the possibility of multiple uses thanks to its format convertible into a tent to play on a sofa, connected to the TV or as a classic laptop. Equipped with a 16-inch touch screen in 16:10 format displaying 2560 x 1600 pixels at 165 Hz, it allows you to benefit from HDR-compatible Mini-Led backlighting with a peak brightness of 1100 cd / m², but only as an option. Shame.

The onboard processor is an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS with a thermal envelope of 35 W, which allows Asus to couple it to a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with a comfortable envelope of 125 W. The set can be accompanied up to 64 GB of DDR5 and 2 TB of SSD, knowing that a second M.2 slot is free. The cooling is particularly worked with no less than three fans and high-density fin radiators. Finally, thermal conduction is optimized with the use of Liquid Metal paste.

The connection is once again complete with USB-C, HDMI, Windows Hello compatible HD webcam and wifi 6E. We obviously find the XG Mobile port in order to connect an external GPU with GeForce RTX 3080 from Nvidia or Radeon RX 6850M XT from AMD.
