2024 is shaping up to be the year of Oled and QD-Oled on the monitor market, and that’s excellent news. As a reminder, this type of panel offers unrivaled contrasts and almost zero ghosting, which helps avoid ghost trails behind moving objects.
If a few high-end models had already arrived in 2023 at LG, Samsung, or even Philips in particular, their size was limited to 27 inches. The top size (32 inches) is a solution increasingly popular with gamers, but also with professionals, whether in office or for using creative software.
The ultimate monitor?
Many brands presented their Oled/QD-Oled models at CES last January and Asus is following suit with a 32-inch ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM with an impressive technical sheet. It delivers a 4K definition (3840 x 2160 px) and a refresh rate of 240 Hz perfect for competitive multiplayer, even if you will need a very solid configuration to be able to take advantage of it.
The monitor is also FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatible to avoid tearing, and HDR400 certified; remember, however, that this level of dynamics is limited by the low brightness inherent in the monitor and that this ultimately does not provide much benefit when gaming or watching a film. If you fear the shine of QD-Oled screens, Asus has applied an anti-reflective filter here in addition to anti-burn-in technologies, screen burns can affect Oled panels over time .
As a bonus, the connectivity includes not only a DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, but also a USB-C port with 90W charging, enough to recharge your peripherals or connect a laptop without problem .
In short, with such a configuration, it’s difficult to ask for more, and the PG32UCDM may well be one of the best models of the year. All this has a cost, and not the least since you will have to pay no less than $1,300, or around €1,500, to be able to lay eyes on it, which, let’s admit, stings a little.
