A teenage girl signed up on a dating site. A much older man then went to her house.
It’s a scary story. The correctional court of Liège sentenced one of its inhabitants, aged 26, to a suspended prison sentence. He is accused of rape and indecent assault on a 12-year-old girl. The victim had been approached via a dating website. It was the victim’s mother who denounced the facts after searching her daughter’s cell phone and discovering naked photos of her. These same images were sent to a man. The investigation then showed that the individual was much older than the little girl.
The latter had claimed to the stranger that she was 14 years old. Despite the child’s minority, the man had organized a meeting with the child and had even visited his home on October 4, 2018. “He had imposed on her sexual acts which constitute preventions of indecent assault and rape of a minor.” He was identified through photo recognition and telephone analysis. Sentenced by default, the defendant appealed against this decision. Following a new study, the individual was sentenced to a three-year suspended sentence with the remainder of the preventive detention.
Dating apps increasingly used by sex critics
This story is reminiscent of that of a 28-year-old man who went to court in Vesoul to appear for “Sexual proposals made to a 15-year-old minor using an electronic means of communication”. The man who lives in Perpignan did not even move to attend his trial, he was finally released because the girl was 16 at the time of the incident.
