Kenneth Felts, a 90-year-old man living in the United States, revealed his homosexuality after having been secret for decades. A touching story.

It took him a long time to accept himself and reveal his homosexuality to his loved ones. But it is done and Kenneth Felts has never been so free from such a secret carried for several decades. He told his story to the newspaper Dender Post and explains the difficulty, for him, to assume his homosexuality at a certain time: "I have been in a closet all my life, at the back of the closet, behind rows and rows of clothes. Coming out in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s was impossible. It is in particular for this reason that I have never considered revealing myself on this subject. There was no gay community and I guess I didn't have the guts to face society at the time, so I just went on with my life. " he explains.

That is why, at 20 years old already he became aware of his sexual orientation, but Kenneth married a woman. Together they founded a family and gave birth to a daughter, Rebecca. The latter also spoke about her father's homosexuality. Suffice to say that her reaction was very positive when she heard the news. She explains to Denver Post : "He's so brave and doesn't even realize it. It's amazing." After revealing his homosexuality to his family and friends, Kenneth made it public on his Facebook account: "In revealing what I really was, I had great concern about what people were going to say. I was very worried because I needed them and I couldn't bear the idea of losing them just because I had finally decided to assume who I was. " It was therefore with great apprehension that he revealed his homosexuality. But the feedback was rather positive and the publication of Kenneth dressed in a T-shirt with the colors of the LGBT + flag went viral.

In the interview with Denver Post, he also evokes having plunged into buried memories while writing his biography. He thus remembered Phillip, his true love, whom he met in the 1950s. It is an overwhelming story but one that also gives hope. Kenneth shows that it is never too late to assume responsibility.
