At France Culture, an action plan to turn the page Sandrine Treiner

How to close, once and for all, the Sandrine Treiner page at France Culture? After the former leader resigned, and while waiting for the new one, Emelie de Jong, to take office, the management of Radio France presented, on Wednesday April 19 at the start of the afternoon and as she had promised, a roadmap for a better working environment. Objective: to ensure that there is no longer a situation such as that experienced by France Culture in recent years, where excessively centralized management has been able to cause suffering at work.

With the ” action plan “ in three parts exposed to employees, this time it is a question of preventing problematic situations (rather than dealing with them a posteriori), training in healthy management (rather than letting toxic behaviors take hold), but also improving sharing information (rather than leaving collaborators in the dark about decisions and operating methods).

Moments of more formalized exchanges

New indicators will be put in place in the hope of detecting problems as early as possible (sick leaves, mobility requests), while a network of “preventers” (lookouts) will ensure a sort of local prevention mission. New recruits will receive a “managerial brief”, and the producers themselves (program presenters) will be trained in team management. The dialogue is also supposed to improve thanks to more formalized and more regular moments of exchange. Whoever proposes a project will not be left without an answer.

In addition to Sandrine Treiner, who had resigned before her conclusions were revealed, and her program delegate Jean Béghin, who retired at the end of 2022, her deputy Jean-Marc Claus, production and broadcasting delegate, also cited in the investigation, is now invited to join the Radio France Studio.

“There will be no punishment for anyone,” regret, however, employees contacted by The worldwho expected more from this cathartic process. Some expected the issue of stress-inducing workload to be addressed, while others would have liked to see the “more structural”, the precariousness of creators (producers, documentarians, etc.) dealt with. ” Management now believes the issue is resolved,” complains one of them. While Florian Delorme is taking over, the station’s new director, Emelie de Jong, director of programs at Arte and corporate officer, should not arrive before mid-June.
