The union vida and the ÖGB accuse the furniture store XXX-Lutz of having prevented the establishment of a works council in the new central warehouse in Zurndorf. According to Oliver Krumpeck, country manager of vida, an employee was fired a few hours after the announcement of a works meeting to set up a works council. Workforce sent home “That wasn’t enough, the employer followed up on Wednesday and sent the workforce home an hour and a half before the planned works meeting ‘ said Krumpeck indignantly. Vida and ÖGB have now announced that they will file a lawsuit with the Labor and Social Court. “It is shameful that companies are trying to prevent the exercise of fundamental rights anchored in law,” says ÖGB state chairman Erich Mauersics. A works council can be set up in every company with at least five employees.
