A few hundred from Moscow, a fire in a cafe in the city of Kostroma killed at least 13 people, local authorities announced. At least 250 people were evacuated from the building where the fire broke out.
Thirteen people were killed in a fire in a cafe in Russia, in the town of Kostroma, some 300 kilometers from Moscow, local authorities announced on Saturday. “According to initial information, the fire claimed 13 lives,” regional governor Sergey Sitnikov said on the social network Telegram.
250 people evacuated
The fire, which occurred in a café called “Poligon” overnight from Friday to Saturday, was extinguished in the early morning, said the governor, reporting five injuries. According to the emergency services, the fire spread over an area of 3,500 m2.
The Ria-Novosti agency, citing a police source, said that 250 people were evacuated from the building in which the fire broke out.
