Bundescancer Olaf Scholz (SPD) wants to push ahead with the expansion of wind power in Germany. “By 2030, there will be an average of four to five wind turbines a day on land,” he told the “Bild am Sonntag”. A roadmap for plant construction is currently being drawn up in order to achieve the goals set for 2030. “Every month there will then be a discussion with the countries on how far they have progressed. Anything that is not done on time must be made up for,” said the Federal Chancellor.
According to industry information, there are currently more than 28,000 wind turbines on land in Germany with a total output of around 58 gigawatts. The federal government’s goal is an installed capacity of 115 gigawatts by 2030. Onshore wind power plays a key role in the energy transition, the replacement of fossil energies such as coal with renewable energies from wind and sun.
In order to operate climate-neutrally by 2045, Scholz called for more momentum for innovations and for the modernization of industry. The energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine has shown what Germany is capable of. “Our country has come through this difficult time much better than many feared.” He recalled fears of a “winter of rage with mass protests” and of cold apartments and freezing people in Germany. “None of that happened.” If nothing unforeseen happens, he is also confident about next winter.

In view of the inflation, Scholz called on companies to give their employees the tax and duty-free special payment of up to 3,000 euros. Many would have used it. He can only encourage business to follow these examples.
