Prince William and Princess Kate have arrived at St. David’s Cathedral for an intimate ceremony honoring Queen Elizabeth.
Initially, heavy fog delayed their arrival. But in the end, Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41) arrived safely and blessed with bright sunshine at St. David’s Cathedral at the westernmost tip of Wales. Also according to the British newspaper “The Independent” on site: around 300 onlookers. They watched as the royals went to the cathedral for the private, small-scale ceremony in honor of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who died exactly a year ago.
Only 20 selected guests are said to have attended the ten-minute memorial service alongside William and Kate. According to The Independent, the princess chose a fitted, burgundy dress from Eponine for the occasion and combined it with a matching hat, handbag and pumps. Her husband, meanwhile, opted for a classic dark blue suit and white polka dot blue tie.
Royals scattered in every corner of Britain
After the ceremony, Kate placed a bouquet of flowers on a portrait of the Queen, it is said. Next on the common agenda: conversations with various people who are directly related to Queen Elizabeth II’s previous visits to the city of St. Davids, which only has around 1,800 inhabitants.
At around the same time, William’s father King Charles (74) and Queen Camilla (76) attended a church service near the Scottish Balmoral Castle. Prince Harry (38) was meanwhile spotted in a third place: He visited the Queen’s final resting place in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The monarch was buried there on September 19th last year next to her husband Prince Philip (1921-2021). On Saturday (September 9th) Harry will travel to Germany, where the starting signal for his Invictus Games will be given in Düsseldorf on the same day.
