In the Upper Engadin, the Schwyz native ranks third behind the Italians Elena Curtoni and Sofia Goggia.

The Top 4

  • 1. Elena Curtoni (ITA) 1:09.40 minutes
  • 2. Sofia Goggia (ITA) +0.29 seconds
  • 3. Corinne Suter (SUI) +0.73
  • 4. Jasmine Flury (SUI) +0.84

The first descent in St. Moritz was a test of courage for all riders in snow, fog and poor visibility. From a Swiss point of view, Corinne Suter mastered this difficult task best. In third place, the Olympic champion also finished on the podium in the fourth speed race of the season.

The dominance of Sofia Goggia, who had won both downhill runs in Lake Louise, broke through her compatriot Elena Curtoni of all people. The 31-year-old rode particularly well in the second section of her second World Cup victory in this discipline, while Goggia chose a line that was too round on the shortened course. The top favorite also injured her left hand on a goal pole.

With start number 1 sent as a “test pilot” into the Upper Engadine smoke screen, Jasmine Flury managed a strong run. The Swiss completed the first part of the descent the fastest and missed the jump on the podium by only eleven hundredths.

The other Swiss women

The pleasing result from the point of view of the Swiss women was underlined by Lara Gut-Behrami in eighth place. However, Joana Hählen (16th) and Michelle Gisin (19) were not satisfied. While Hählen fell victim to poor visibility, Gisin made a time-consuming mistake at the crux.

The further program

In St. Moritz, things are happening in quick succession for the female riders: the second descent (again live on SRF from 10:15 a.m. onwards) is already on the program on Saturday, before the Super-G on Sunday (11:15 a.m. live on SRF ) concludes the race weekend in Switzerland.
