At the age of 12, he multiplies record swimming crossings for a good cause

In less than a day, Christophe Maleau, a 12-year-old teenager, had covered forty kilometers … swimming.

He is our hero of the day. At only 12 years old, this teenager has covered forty kilometers … swimming. Christophe Maleau has achieved a real feat. On his own, he made a swimming crossing between Saint Lucia and Sainte-Anne, in Martinique, in favor of the fight against breast cancer. "When I saw the lights on the phones, I knew I had arrived", tells a resident, to RMC Sport.

The teenager began his journey at dawn on Saturday, October 10, after 5 a.m. He then arrived around 7 p.m. on Martinique soil. A great initiative that he accomplished in 1:50 p.m. effort as part of Pink October, organized by the Ruban Rose association.

A future high level athlete?

Christophe prepared for many months before starting the crossing. "I'm proud, happy to have done it because after two years of training, now was the time", he recounts. "There are times when I doubted, but since it was for a good cause, I told myself I had to keep going. By persisting, I was successful." Throughout the event, he was accompanied and supported by his parents, members of the event organizer, and his swim club. To be able to complete his journey in good conditions, he took advantage of the favorable weather and a break to eat every 20 minutes, even in "https://www.aufeminin.com/"he admits being hungry from the middle of his journey and until the finish " he tells RMC. An optimistic teenager driven by the encouragement of his supporters. "I think of the words people say to me on the networks", he confides.

However, Christophe is not his first achievement. Three years ago, at just 9 years old, he swam for more than 6 km between Anse Mitan in Trois-îlets and the Frenchwoman in Fort-de-France. A year later, at the age of 10, he covered 26 kilometers between Le Diamant and Schoelcher. Christophe remains enigmatic about the next exploits he intends to accomplish. "I reserve the surprise for you. You will know it in due course", indicates the young man, full of enthusiasm. A teenager who has not finished surprising us.
