- German actress Ingrid Steeger is dead.
- Steeger’s private circle confirmed to the German Press Agency that she died at the age of 76.
- “Bild” had previously reported that the actress died in a hospital in Hesse.
Steeger won over audiences in the 1970s as the blonde “Ulknudel” from the ARD comedy “Klimbim”. The series made her one of the most famous TV faces in Germany. She was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize for her role.
After Jobs, Steeger’s career began as a model with the legendary “Schoolgirl Report” in the cinema. She later got roles in crime series such as “The Inspector” and “Derrick” and worked with greats such as Curd Jürgens, Harald Juhnke and Horst Tappert. She played with Iris Berben in the series “Two Heavenly Daughters”.
“The nation’s undressed lady” did not have any television roles for a long time in her career, but the actress initially found a new professional home in the theater. “I started to feel really comfortable and to choose what I really like,” she said on her 65th birthday.
Things had recently become quiet around Steeger. During rehearsals for the Bad Hersfeld Festival in May 2019, she appeared weak and had to be supported when walking and standing. People around her were increasingly saying that she needed a break.
