Former Marvel star Jonathan Majors gives tearful acceptance speech

Jonathan Majors was allowed to accept an award at an event in Beverly Hills. In his speech he showed remorse and emotion.
Actor Jonathan Majors (34) was apparently overcome by his emotions during an acceptance speech at the Hollywood Unlocked event. Majors, who was found guilty of domestic violence against his ex-partner by a court at the end of 2023 and sentenced in April of this year, received the Perseverance Award despite this scandal – Perseverance can be translated as perseverance. When he accepted the award on stage in Beverly Hills last Friday (June 21), the 34-year-old’s emotions flowed. According to US website “Variety” the tears.
“I’m not perfect. I have shortcomings – I admit them,” the site quotes Majors from his speech. In his opinion, a time has come when people think in extremes and are either the hero or the villain: “But I’ve realized that I personally am none of those things. … I’m just the guy whose faith was tested.” In addition to his family and friends, he also thanked some Hollywood greats for their support, including Tyler Perry (54) and Will Smith (55) – who himself experienced a massive career setback after his Oscar slap against comedian Chris Rock (59) two years ago.
Several roles were lost after the verdict
In her lawsuit, his ex Grace Jabbari described shocking allegations of domestic violence against Majors, whose career was just taking off at the time of the allegations. Immediately following the court decision, the actor was fired by Marvel Studios in December 2023. He previously appeared in the superhero film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the streaming series “Loki,” and was set to become the next adversary of the Avengers in the Marvel universe. Majors has also lost other acting engagements in the meantime, such as the lead role in a planned biopic about former NBA star Dennis Rodman (63).
Recently, however, he was able get a leading role againin Martin Villeneuve’s revenge thriller “Merciless”. In his acceptance speech, Majors said of this glimmer of hope for a possible Hollywood comeback: “I sat in that pitch black darkness and learned that when you catch a glimpse of a ray of light, you run toward it as fast as you can. And I will never take that light for granted again.”
