A tractor weighing around five tons fell about 150 meters down a steep slope on Thursday morning. The driver was able to save himself at the last moment.
Despite all attempts to brake, the tractor began to roll on the steep terrain. The driver was able to jump out of the cab at the last moment before the vehicle crashed down the slope. The braking system must have been defective. The tractor was a total write-off. 20 men from the Dorfgastein volunteer fire department first secured the vehicle and caught the leaking fuel. The tractor was finally recovered with the help of a specialist company. The operation lasted around four hours.
