After a resident notified the police and they arrived at the scene, the boys fled in different directions. The police followed suit on foot and in a patrol car and managed to stop seven of the nine youths. The other two could also be traced during the investigation. The boys were two Turks, an Italian, three Romanians, a Slovak, a Serb and a German. The fire brigade deployed with 13 men was able to extinguish the fire quickly.
