Simone Biles celebrated a brilliant comeback on the international stage at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.

US superstar Simone Biles crowned her return to the international gymnastics stage with a new element. More than 2 years after the drama due to mental problems at the Olympics in Tokyo, the 26-year-old presented the most difficult jump in women’s gymnastics at the World Championships on Sunday: a Yurchenko followed by a double somersault backwards with a difficulty of 6.4 points.

2 jumps with her name

After the almost flawless international premiere, for which she received 15.266 points from the jury, nothing stands in the way of the jump being included in the world association’s rating guidelines. The federation had announced that the jump would be named “Biles II” because the four-time Olympic champion had already created a new jump in 2018 that has borne her name ever since.

Until now, the exceptional gymnast had only shown “Biles II” at the national level. However, in order to be recognized by the world association, a new element must be performed at a major international competition.
