The elusive augmented reality headset from Apple would have an impressive technical sheet… just like its price.

It will indeed be necessary to expect a price oscillating between the modest sum of 2,000 and 3,000 dollars. This would corroborate a recent report according to which its production would start in March 2023, with less than a million copies at the key.

It’s a revolution »

Nothing new under the sun, the next flagship device from Apple will be snapped up at a high price. Expected as a very high-end product, the augmented reality headset from the American giant that we have been waiting for for years will certainly not be found in all households.

Embedding an M2 chip, 16 GB of RAM, more than ten cameras distributed within and around the device and screens equipped with ” the highest resolution ever seen in a consumer headset According to Apple, the headset promises on paper a different kind of augmented reality experience, but it certainly won’t come cheap.

Another reason why the Apple would opt for such a prohibitive price: a relatively limited initial “mass production”. In exclusive partnership with the Taiwanese assembler Pegatron, the helmet will only be produced in around 700,000 or 800,000 units, during the spring of 2023.

The beginning of augmented reality for Apple

For its first steps in augmented reality, Apple is pulling out all the stops, but for a niche audience. A way for the American giant to test the waters and put its exclusive assembler to the test in the field.

But this is not the only project from the apple brand in the world of augmented reality. The Cupertino company would indeed already have in the boxes two other helmets interested in this technology, as well as a pair of glasses.

It could thus be that these three other products will prove to be more mainstream than this first very high-end jet to come in 2023. It remains to be seen whether Apple’s other projects in the field will see the light of day and whether the difficulties encountered to develop its first augmented reality headset belong to the past.
