At what price to buy a tablet in 2024? You are divided on the question

Apple unveiled the new iPad Air M2 and iPad Pro M4 last week. But that’s not all, because the Californian firm has drastically reduced the price of the iPad 10. The iPad Mini, for its part, has not changed. Which model would you choose, or rather, what price are you willing to pay for a tablet in 2024? This was the subject of our survey of the week!

Tuesday May 7, Apple hit hard. The Apple brand has unveiled two new touchscreen tablets: the iPad Air M2 and iPad Pro M4. The latter is very strong, since it integrates the brand new, ultra-powerful Apple M4 chip, which should subsequently be found in the brand’s laptops.

Pay attention to the prices

Of course, the new features don’t stop there. The iPad Pro M4 has made a big leap, since Apple’s tablet finally integrates an Oled panel, to put itself on par with the competition on this point. All this riot of technology, however, comes at a price, and the American brand has increased the sales prices of the iPad Pro, which now starts from 1,219 euros in the 11-inch version. For the 13-inch version, it costs from 1,569 euros.

Fortunately, the iPad Air range is still there, and takes a leap forward in terms of performance, thanks to the Apple M2 chip. No Oled screen here, and the price therefore remains more affordable from 719 euros in the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version costs at least 969 euros.

More affordable options

The good news this week is that Apple took the opportunity to lower the price of the iPad 10. It was already in the catalog, and no new hardware was introduced. It now starts at 439 euros, a sharp drop of 150 euros. We could already find it around this price at resellers, and it’s a safe bet that its price could drop below 400 euros in the weeks to come.

The iPad Mini, for its part, has not evolved at all. It still remains more efficient than the iPad 10 with its Apple A15 chip (compared to A14 on the iPad 10), but its screen is smaller (8.3 compared to 10.9 inches). Regardless, its price is higher, starting at 609 euros.

Android tablets

Opposite, on Android, we find more affordable references, below 400 euros, as we indicate in our buying guide for inexpensive tablets. But they necessarily make concessions in terms of the technical sheet, and some users prefer iOS to Android, particularly for tablet use.

This is why we asked you the question for the release of Apple’s new iPads. How much are you willing to pay for a tablet in 2024? Here are the results :

As you can see, you are very divided on the question, with the main iPad ranges sharing almost a third of respondents to this survey. Unsurprisingly, it is on the price that the differences are made, with the iPad 10 at 29%, the iPad Air at 28% and the iPad Pro at 1200 euros at 26%. Note that the iPad Mini is far behind at 6%, we understand why Apple does not make it a priority.
