The granddaughter of the Greek shipowner Aristotle Onassis, † 69, has largely withdrawn from the public eye since the end of her marriage, appearances at public events are a rarity. High society was amazed when the 37-year-old showed up at a wedding in Monte Carlo in October 2021. Yanna Darilis shared a snapshot of that evening on Instagram and commented on Onassis’ appearance with the words: “It was so nice to have met Athina Onassis in Monte Carlo.”

After that it became quiet again around Onassis. When she took part in the Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France on June 25, 2022, she went almost unnoticed with only a few international media reporting on her participation. Her mother Christina Onassis died at the age of 37 after a heart attack caused by years of alcohol and pill abuse.
